Description: Carolyn Paulson has taught the popular course “The Essence of Opera” at Santa Barbara City College for the past 18 years and holds a degree from Opera Education International. In this talk, she reveals the three approaches composers use for writing children’s opera. Using video and audio excerpts, she also presents samplings of operas appropriate for different age groups. Paulson will also make DVD, VHS, and CD musical gift-giving suggestions to help introduce children to opera.
Opera Santa Barbara’s Opera on the Go series presents Carolyn Paulson in “Wild, Wacky and Wonderful: The World of Opera for Children’ on Wednesday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Victoria Hall Theatre.
Tickets are $15 per person, $12 for OSB subscribers and $5 for students. They are available at the door only, beginning one half-hour prior to the start of the talk.
