Description: BTMCCC is a new organization, modeled after a successful program in San Diego, created to guide and support boys 12 to 17 years of age through their passage into manhood. The strength of the Boys to Men model is its intensive mentor training program, which gives men the skills they need to “listen, accept, and admire” their young protegés simply for being who they are. Entitled “Reclaiming Your Teenage Fire” (RTF), the training encourages men to revisit the years of their youth and gain an adult perspective on what they experienced as teenagers. By recalling what they themselves needed as young men, mentors are equipped to become a powerful resource for the next generation of men. Each mentor commits to attend community meetings with his mentee for one full year, and must pass an FBI background check to participate.
