Description: UCSB Arts & Lectures is pleased to present the 2004 Robert Capa Gold Medal Award Recipient for Photo Reporting Requiring Exceptional Courage, Ashley Gilbertson, who will share stories and images from his recently released photographic memoir Whiskey Tango Foxtrot – A Photographer’s Chronicle of the Iraq War.
The remarkable work includes Gilbertson’s extraordinary images of life in occupied Iraq and of American troops in combat. Composed of photographs taken while working as a photographer for The New York Times, the book includes Gilbertson’s personal accounts of covering the conflict, from the exhilaration and terror of photographing war to the challenges of photojournalism in an age of embedded reporting.
