Solvang Jazz Festival

Community Event

When: Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, 1 p.m.

Where: Solvang Village, Copenhagen Dr. and 1st St., Solvang, CA

Cost: Free

Age limit: Not available

Categories: Jazz

Description: The first annual Solvang Jazz Festival offers various activities at different locations around the town. Visit the website or call for more details.

Concert goers can get an afternoon warm-up for the night’s festivities by dropping by the picturesque village square of Solvang to enjoy a tasty serving of jazz, with the newly formed Solvang Jazz Consortium, to go with the town’s famous Danish pastries and abelskivers! The Consortium was created for the Festival as a united effort of compatible talented musicians with deference to the city’s ambience.

Performers onstage that evening in the historic Solvang Festival Theater include jazz greats Hubert Laws, Freddie Hubbard, Patrice Rushen and Roy McCurdy. Festival founder and jazz drummer Stix Hooper has continued to add one luminary after another to the exciting line-up and jazz lovers will also be treated to percussionist, drummer and singer Airto Moreira and the amazing multi-instrumentalist Bob Sheppard.
