Three Simones fearless, radical and complex set the stage for personal reflective writing for this retreat. Simone Weil, born Jewish, sheltered in New York, chose to return to occupied France in WWII as she found spiritual growth to be fostered by defiance, not by hiding in a safe haven. Simone de Beauvoir published The Second Sex asserting women's rights long before the sexual revolution. Nina Simone, songwriter and civil rights activist purposefully hit sour notes and bent off key phrasing to push the edges of her art and audience. Come explore your own fearless heart.
