Audubon Duck Ponds/Wetlands Field Trip

S.B. Audubon Society

When: Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Andrea Clark Bird Refuge on Los Patos Rd.

Cost: Free - $6

Age limit: All ages

Description: Location of trip: carpool from Andrea Clark Bird Refuge parking lot. Please pay driver $6. For directions to get there yourself, see below.

Start time
8:00am (car pool time); 9am - 1:00pm birding
Target birds: Waterfowl, Virginia Rail, Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, American Bittern, White-faced Ibis, Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Vermilion Flycatcher, etc.

Directions: If you want to meet us at the Duck Ponds/Wetlands take Hwy 101 to Oxnard. Exit Rice Ave and towards the ocean to Hwy 1. Go south/east on Hwy 1. Take Hueneme Rd turnoff. Head west of Huenume Rd and turn left on Casper Rd. Wait for our leader at the Casper Road turn off. We must all enter as a group. When our leader joins us we will proceed about a mile after the left bend on Casper Rd and turn right turn into the Duck Ponds/Wetlands. Park on the paved road near the drainage ditch.

Other info:
We will all bird the area on foot and it will be approximately a 3 mile walk and we must remain as a group. This is a private area and a wonderful opportunity has been offered to us to bird the Duck Ponds/Wetlands. Thanks to Peggy Kearns for making the necessary arrangements. Enjoy.
