Description: Beautifully filmed in Cuba, South Africa, The Gambia, Honduras and Venezuela, ¡Salud! hits the road with some 28,000 Cuban health professionals to examine the complex realities confronting the movement to make healthcare a human right. This timely film features the curious case of Cuba, a cash-strapped country with what the BBC calls “one of the world’s best health systems.” Partners in Health founder Dr. Paul Farmer concurs, stating, “The most important contribution that Cuba’s given to global health has been its example – that you can introduce the notion of a right to health care and wipe out the diseases of poverty.” The screening includes an introduction by Diane Appelbaum, US Director of Medical Education Cooperation with Cuba.
