Description: Organized by Surfers for Cetaceans, Minds in the Water is a global campaign dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals and the world's oceans. The Visual Petition Contest gives 5 passionate people around the world the opportunity to travel with co-founder and world-renowned pro surfer "Rasta" (Dave Rastovich) and other top surfers to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) meeting in Chile June 2008. On an all expenses paid trip the person who gathers the largest quantity of portraits for the Visual Petition in their part of the world will help to physically hand the global petition to the delegates of the IWC. So far over 1900 visual petitions have been submitted.
As an artist and activist, Peggy is a supporter of the Marine Mammal Center of Santa Barbara, SB Wildlife Care Network, The Desert Protective Council, the Land Trust of SB County, The Urban Creeks Council of S.B., The Carpinteria Creeks Committee, SB Channel Keeper, Heal the Ocean, and the Environmental Defense Center of Santa Barbara. Petition entries/photos will be taken and submitted at the event in support of Peggy's contest entry. The event is open to anyone passionate about protecting our oceans and animals.
