Description: Dr. Lakeland will speak at two events . At 10 a.m. he will discuss his recent book, Catholicism at the Crossroads at Holy Cross Parish Hall. At 7 p.m. his topic will be Being Catholic, Being American: The Church and U.S. Culture at Bonaventure Hall, Mission Santa Barbara. The events are co-sponsored by two Catholic lay organizations, Voice of the Faithful and Word and Life.
Lakeland holds an endowed chair in Catholic Studies at Fairfield University, a Jesuit university in Fairfield, Connecticut. He received the 2005 Catholic Press Award in theology for his ground-breaking book, The Liberation of the Laity: In Search of an Accountable Church.
