Description: In 1973, 26-year-old Sarah Weddington successfully argued the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States. Ms. Weddington later went on to be the first woman from Austin to be elected to the Texas House of Representatives and then served as an assistant to President Jimmy Carter. She is the author of the book A Question of Choice, which is about her experience arguing Roe, and is a professor at the University of Texas.
She will speak about the struggles she faced and the future of reproductive justice and feminist activism. Light refreshments will be available.
