Description: Meg Jette, an international photographer based in Santa Barbara, has just returned from Nigeria with her latest images of the intimate relationship between the Tuareg people and the desert. Jette's images capture private moments of individuals and family members and also show an intimate dance between the photographer and subject. Meg's love for the people she is framing in her viewfinder, is apparent in each image, as is the fragility of human life and the simple dependence on the environment and each other. In light of the dangerous situation in Niger, these pictures are charged with the essence of transition within a simple nomadic lifestyle which is now facing modern challenges.
Exhibit runs from 5/23-6/23/08. Open Sunday from 1-5pm, and on 4th Fridays, 6-9pm, and by appt.
