Description: Dr. Joseph Hwang, a local family and cosmetic dentist, will be paying children one dollar per pound of candy they wish to sell back to him on Nov. 1st, in an effort to reduce candy consumption after Halloween and limit the potential for teeth decay. Despite advancements in dental health for many Americans, tooth decay in on the rise among preschool children, according to the report released earlier this year by the CDC> Halloween marks the start of the holiday season and increased intake of sweets, both in quantity and frequency. It is Dr. Hwang's goal to get some of the candy out of children's hands, as well as increase their awareness of the importance of dental health. The candy buy-back will be limited to 5 pounds of candy per child and to the first 200 children. Each child will receive 1 dollar per pound of candy, a dental health kit, and a raffle ticket for a prize drawing.
