Description: CAMA’s 2008-2009 Masterseries continues with master musicians Thomas Adès and Anthony Marwood, who retrace the steps of musical giants Stravinsky and Dushkin. British composer, conductor and pianist Thomas Adès, appreciated as one of the most gifted musicians of his generation, appears with violinist Anthony Marwood, named 2006 Instrumentalist of the Year by the Royal Philharmonic Society. Their Masterseries program recalls the historic collaboration of composer Igor Stravinsky and violinist Samuel Dushkin, whose American tour in March of 1937 included a recital presented by CAMA at the Lobero Theatre. Adès and Marwood’s program of music by Stravinsky, transcribed for piano and violin by Stravinsky and Dushkin, includes the Suite Italienne arranged from Pulcinella, the Divertimento arranged from The Fairy’s Kiss, as well as music arranged from The Nightingale, The Firebird, Petrushka, and more.
