Come to this High Esteem Tea, where Beverly Engel, internationally recognized advocate for abuse victims, will speak on her new book, The Nice Girl Syndrome: Stop Being Manipulated and Abused and Start Standing Up for Yourself.
As many as 4,000,000 women are battered each year in the U.S. and nearly 3,000 are killed. In fact, domestic violence is the single most cause of injury among women seeking emergency medical attention, surpassing auto accidents, muggings, and rape combined. Unfortunately, S.B. County is on par with national statistics. That's why it's so important to support DVS, especially since it is the only organization in S.B. County that provides safe and confidential housing for abused women and children.
