Description: The reigning queen of world music and legendary barefoot diva Cesária Évora returns to S.B. to perform her soulful brand of Cape Verde morna music. One of the world’s most recognizable and sublime singers, Évora fuses Latin jazz and Afro beats with traces of Portuguese fado and Brazilian ballads. Earning comparisons to Edith Piaf and Billie Holiday, in her early life Évora literally sang for her supper at bars in her native country. Now at almost 70, she has sold millions of records, won a Grammy Award, and created a thriving, international performing career. Rolling Stone magazine raves Évora really only sings two ways: well or magnificently.
