Description: The academy will meet once a week on Wednesdays for ten weeks at the Santa Barbara Police Department. The classes will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Several topics are covered in these classes. Some of these are: a presentation from the Chief, Patrol Operations, Gangs, Detectives, PAL, K-9, Bomb Squad, SWAT, and Tactical Patrol Force. The academy also includes a tour of the police station, dispatch, and an opportunity to shoot a firearm in our range. The Spanish Citizen's Academy is designed for those members of our community that are primarily Spanish speaking. The classes will be taught in Spanish by officers of our department.
