Description: The book selection for the annual community reading program is: Housekeeping, by Marilynne Robinson. The book will be available from all branches of the public library in print and as a book on CD. The book may also be downloaded through the library website to a home computer, and transferred to a compatible portable digital player. The author, Marilynne Robinson, won a Pulitzer Prize for her 2004 book, Gilead, and her new book, Home, will be published September 2. The S.B. Public Library System and UCSB Arts & Lectures will present the author event on Oct. 24. Also in October, the libraries will host a discussion panel, book discussions, and a showing of the 1987 film directed by Bill Forsyth, based on the book.
