Description: j.shea has long been a great friend to AFS with his scavenger aesthetic and remarkable technical abilities coupling in powerful works that hint at the magical and transformative properties lying dormant in just about everything, given a chance or a second look. In his first solo California show, J.Shea will exhibit a collection of work inspired by a cross country pilgrimage, from the East Coast to the West Coast earlier this year. Working in paint, assemblage and sculpture Shea has gathered and reconfigured nostalgic junk collected from the back roads, side streets and alleyways of: New Orleans, LA, Austin and Marfa TX, Bisbee and Tombstone AZ, Los Angeles and San Francisco CA, and his latest place of residence Portland OR.
