Description: Calling all game fans! Here's a chance to play SCRABBLE and help those who struggle with reading. The event benefits Adult and Family Literacy Programs in the S.B. Public Library System. The game evening is an opening night feature of the Tenth Annual Santa Barbara Book and Author Festival. All players, from beginners to experts, are welcome. Participants play two timed SCRABBLE rounds and enjoy fabulous refreshments from local restaurants. Players will receive a commemorative gift and a chance to win great prizes from area businesses. We welcome families, and parent/child pairs can enter to play and pay a single admission.
Each year, hundreds of adult learners receive free, confidential tutoring through the S.B. Public Library System's Adult Literacy Program. Over 100 volunteer tutors, who receive free training and materials, help their neighbors in the local libraries.
