Description: Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Vowell is an author, journalist, humorist, and commentator. Often referred to as a “social observer,” Vowell has published many works, including her first book, Radio On: A Listener’s Diary, about her love for the radio medium. Her writings have been published in The Village Voice, Esquire, GQ, Spin, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The San Francisco Weekly, and she has been a regular contributor to the online magazine Salon. Her other books include The Partly Cloudy Patriot, Assassination Vacation and Take the Cannoli.
