Time and the Conways
UCSB Theatre Department production, written by J.B. Priestley.
When: Saturday, March 7, 2009, 2 p.m.
Where: Hatlen Theatre, UCSB, CA
Cost: $13 - $17
Age limit: Not available
Categories: Theater
Description: Priestley's play, a standard of the British Theatre, first finds the Conway family celebrating Kay Conway's 21st birthday. The scene takes place just after the conclusion of WWI, a pivotal point in 20th Century history; then Priestley delves in deeper thematic waters, visiting the family in its precarious future.
This production marks the first time Mr. Williams, a member of the UCSB faculty since 1984, has directed for the department. A team of guest designers bring to life Priestley's thought-provoking combination of drawing room/universal space: Gary Wichansky designs the set; Marcy Froehlich designs the periods costumes; and Michael Klaers designs the lighting. UCSB musician/composer Patrick Lindley provides incidental music.
The matinee show of Time on Saturday, February 28 will be followed by a talkback with the director and cast.
