Genesis West, in their most ambitious production to date, presents the most outrageously fun play by the most controversial living Irish playwright, The Lieutenant of Inishmore by Martin McDonagh won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Comedy, a 2006 Obie award for Best Playwriting and a Tony nomination for best play. In the play, a sadistic rogue enforcer of an I.R.A. splinter group becomes emotionally unglued when his only friend in the world is killed - his cat. He loves his pet more than life itself and someone is going to pay. McDonagh creatively combines comedy with carnage creating a brilliant satire on terrorism and a biting commentary on the self-perpetuating spirals of violence that occur throughout our world.
