Mark your calendars for the 23rd Annual California Avocado Festival, October 2nd-4th, 2009. Every year, the festival continues to grow and gains more notoriety. In 2002, the Avofest received national attention on the "Food Network." The Festival was featured on the Travel Channel one year later. In 2007, the California Avocado Festival was featured on the "Discovery Health Channel's" popular show, "A Lyon in the Kitchen." Since then many media crews, both local and abroad, have visited and filmed the festival. Last year, a film crew from Germany flew over to film the festivals' highly popular "Best Guacamole Contest." They aired the footage on German television after the event.

There are a couple of changes this year. The Avofest has permanently re-named the Avo Expo Tent the "George Bliss Avo Expo Tent," in appreciation for what George represented to both the community and the California Avocado Festival. There are some exciting changes to the dessert court. More seating will be available throughout the Festival.

The Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a vehicle for many local non-profit organizations, clubs, schools and youth programs to raise much needed funds. For many of the non-profits, this is their biggest fundraiser of the year. The 2008 Festival had 25 non-profits who participated.
