Description:

The Kennedy Center's own resident ballet company makes its Santa Barbara debut. George Balanchine's most celebrated muse, Suzanne Farrell remains a legendary figure in the ballet world. During her 28 years on the stage she expanded the limits of ballet technique to a degree not before seen; and in 2001, she founded The Suzanne Farrell Ballet to preserve Balanchine's legacy. The company will perform The Balanchine Couple, featuring pas de deux from nine Balanchine ballets with onstage narration by Farrell. Pas de deux include those from Apollo, La Sonnambula, La Valse, Agon, Meditation, Chaconne, and Stars and Stripes, "The Unanswered Question" from Ivesiana, and "Pas de Mauresque" from Don Quixote.
