The Santa Barbara Blues Society, the oldest existing blues society in the U.S., invites you to its 2010 pre-Fiesta show, at Warren Hall, Earl Warren Showgrounds, on Friday, July 30. Doors open at 7:30, Music starts at 8:30 PM. There will be free food snacks and a large dance floor!
Local bluesman Alastair Greene will provide an acoustic opening set after doors open at 7:30 PM.
Janiva Magness is at the top of her game, and one of the premier blues singers of the decade. Born in Detroit, she was exposed to Motown sounds but became a devotee of the blues after hearing Otis Rush and Little Milton. After sojourns in Minneapolis and Phoenix, she settled in Los Angeles and established her reputation playing with Southern California’s top blues musicians. She was named Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year in 2006, 2007, and 2009 by the Blues Foundation, and was its 2009 B.B. King Entertainer of the Year. Get your tickets at the door.
