Shabbat through Movement, Song, and a Bit of Torah

Join us for a embodied journey into Sacred Time and Shabbat (Friday night). We will start out on our mats, explore various postures, incorporate chant and some kernels of Torah. Please bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. After the class, all are invited to join in the making of the blessings over the Shabbat candles, wine and challah. If you'd like, please bring a small edible offering (veggie/dairy) to share for the potluck meal to follow.
Rabbi Alyson Solomon is the assistant rabbi of Congregation B'nai B'rith in Santa Barbara. Originally from Portland, Oregon she studied international diplomacy and human rights. After traveling and living in Zimbabwe, India, and the Middle East she entered rabbinical school in Boston. She came to Santa Barbara in July 2009. For many years she has studied yoga, NIA, and continues to cultivate ways to in-corporate - highlight the embodied aspects of - Jewish tradition and creativity.
We will be sharing Shabbat potluck meal to follow the class.
No prior Shabbat experience necessary :)
