Description:
Cody Hooper is an artist from Santa Fe and Albuquerque in New Mexico. Hooper is deeply interested in the emotional response to strong composition and design. Though his work shows a bold mix of styles, ranging from sleek and contemporary to weathered and organic, he brings a subtle and sophisticated feel to his paintings through a unique balance of color, composition and texture.
Cody Hooper labels himself as a born artist who was drawing consistently starting at age four. He was fortunate to study under professional SWW Barbara Hughes for three years. He took studio art classes and advanced Life Drawing and Color Theory courses in a local community college while studying graphic design and marketing. Hooper obtained his design degree and went on to be a graphic designer in the architectural sign business for six years. During his design career he wasn’t able to feed that creative hunger so he began painting on the side again and landed representation in a gallery in Austin. Soon he was selling work and decided to visit Santa Fe where he instantly fell in love with the energy and creativity of the city. He found a gallery there that was a perfect fit and as soon as they opened the door for him he decided to move there. Hooper now paints full time in Santa Fe and is represented in the southwest market and California now.
