Seminar: Architecture and the Persistence of Memory
Professor Jeremy White will address the theme of architecture as a technology of remembrance, and explore the complex triad of architecture, memory, and history using a variety of examples of both local and national importance.
When: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Institute of World Culture, 1407 Chapala St., Santa Barbara
Age limit: 16+
This triad may be apparent when we visit monuments like the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial in Washington, D. C., but the role that even ordinary architecture plays in constructing public memory usually is not so obvious; hence the importance of this seminar. For more information: http://www.worldculture.org
