On display October 19 - November 20, 2012.

The “Dream Cycle” concept arose from the artist's remembrances of classic international films that feature indelible landscapes. Adams has created a unique series of original works on paper that portray cinematic landscapes with memorable visual eloquence. Interpreting these landscape moments with freehand drawings, Adams captures fresh insights from the film settings. Influences from the great directors, cinematographers and production designers from the cinematic heritage of the United States, France, Italy and Sweden have provided inspiration for these new compositions.

Robert F. Adams leads a multifaceted life. Known primarily as a landscape architect, he is also a film and opera columnist. The use of textures, composition and color are central to his garden designs. His drawings have been shown at the Aspen Art Museum and at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum. Adams holds a BFA in Film and Theatre from UCLA, and he studied landscape architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He established Earthknower Studios in 2010, developing a creative office in Santa Barbara that focuses on landscape design, visual compositions and writing. His work is inspired by cultural history and nature.
