Beginning at 9am at De La Guerra Plaza there will be a morning program of 17th-century African American dance, music and singing. At 10am a Unity March will start, leading to the historic Arlington Theater, located at 1317 State Street in Santa Barbara. The 11am program at the Arlington will include young winners of the Essay and Poetry contest, dignitaries, gospel choirs and film clips. Also included will be a reconciliation dialogue, and a special feature this year will be Dr. Samuel De Palma, world-acclaimed bass baritone singer. All who attend will be enriched by Dr. King’s story of peace, non-violence and civil rights, in a way that is rare and educational. Everyone is invited to be a part of his remarkable legacy. All events are offered free to the public, as a gift to the City, by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee of Santa Barbara, a diverse group of volunteers who plan year round for this day.
