Where: First Presbyterian Church, 21 E. Constance Ave. , Santa Barbara

Renown and respected Harvard neurosurgeon Dr. Eben Alexander will talk about his life-changing near-death experience, which occurred during a week-long coma as his body battled a very severe case of Bacterial Spinal Meningitis in 2008. After extensive tests showed him to have no brain activity, and with his doctors and his family discussing an imminent disconnect from life-support, Eben returned to consciousness and eventually began to relate the deep and powerful near-death experience he had when his consciousness journeyed out of his body and beyond this world. Before his near-death experience Eben had been an indifferent churchgoer and completely ignored stories about the afterlife, but his near-death experience provided the opportunity for him to visit heaven and he now knows there is no reason to fear death. With over 1.6 million Proof of Heaven books now sold, according to Simon and Schuster (per John Blake, CNN Belief Blog, May 19th, 2013), and the book being translated into other languages, Eben’s amazing story is being spread around the world.
