Arroyo Hondo Preserve is owned and managed by The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County. This spectacular nature preserve is open for public exploration on the first full weekend and the third weekend of each month. On these Saturdays and Sundays, two-hour Guided Nature Hikes are offered by knowledgeable docents, beginning at 10 a.m. If you prefer to hike without a guide you may do so. Miles of trails wind through along the beautiful creek and through oak woodland and chaparral habitats. Exceptionally diverse native vegetation and abundant wildlife are found at Arroyo Hondo. Beginning in winter, and through the spring and early summer, an ever-changing diversity of wildflowers can be seen at the preserve, so you might want to visit several times.
Reservations are required for both guided and unguided visits.
