The Santa Barbara Public Library System is offering free computer classes at the Central Library. The classes, taught by Library volunteer computer coaches, will be held in the Townley Room on the lower level of the Library. Laptop computers will be provided for the classes. Registration is required as class size is limited.
Basic Computing teaches new computer users basic keyboarding, how to set up and use an email account, and how to search the web using Google. The class will be taught by Brett Markman, retired online mathematics instructor. Participants may sign up for either October 23 or November 6.
Be Money Smart Online, taught by Milt Hess, retired systems administrator, teaches experienced computer users how to safely and securely manage money using resources on the Internet. The workshop covers how to pay bills, bank online, manage credit cards and investments, as well as shopping and booking travel. Participants may sign up for Be Money Smart Online for October 15 or October 29.
