The Things They Carried Panel Discussion
Panelists will discuss and give views on Tim O'Brien's book.

Panelists Raymond Morua (US Army veteran of Iraq war), Peter Bie (US Army, veteran of Vietnam war), Richard Hecht (UCSB religious studies professor) and Otis Graham (UCSB history professor emeritus) will discuss The Big Read selection, The Things They Carried. This classic work of American literature is Tim O'Brien's semi-autobiographical novel about a platoon of young American soldiers in the Vietnam War.
Enjoy listening to the panelists, who are sure to have very different perspectives on the book and the issues it raises, discuss the book and issues related to soldiers and veterans.

Copies of the book are available at all local public libraries. The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
