While it may still be said that a picture is worth a thousand words, Trevor Borden’s full-bodied lyrics paint intimate, detailed vignettes in far fewer. At the core a singer/songwriter, Trevor seeks to convey images that tell more than just his personal story. Rather, he uses that same story – the experiences he lives and knows – to imbue his lyrics with a couple things that speak much louder: hope and truth. Now, drawing on ten years of musical maturity and a lifetime of story, Trevor is doing what he’s needed to do for a long time. He’s recreating the complete freedom he knew in Africa in a medium he can take anywhere. And in that freedom, there is hope. “Where are we going? When will we get there?” he asks in Manzanitas. “Is there an age we’ll call complete?” Even in the timeless unknowing, though, he seems to alleviate his uncertainty with expectant chorus from The Light: “There is a light that’s coming. There is a light almost here.”
So, fearless, Trevor moves forward. Expect to see the release of his EP within the next few months. Expect, also, to be blown away.
