Short Circuits (Kratki Stiki)
Rating: NR
Synopsis:
Winner of Best Feature at the 2007 Slovenian Film Festival, SHORT CIRCUITS weaves together three stories of careless choice, unintended consequence, guilt, and redemption. A lonely bus driver discovers an abandoned baby and searches for the childs mother. A beautiful physician takes care of an angry, self-pitying businessman paralyzed in a car crash. After an accidental shooting, an inattentive father struggles to save his sons life when a shopkeeper refuses to help. In the tradition of Eastern European emotional and social realism, SHORT CIRCUITS is a piercing psychological drama that employs non-linear storytelling to slowly reveal the hidden truths of its quietly desperate characters. Set in a harsh Slovenian urban landscape, the film gracefully explores the short circuiting of human connection, the randomness of fate and the search for personal salvation.
