Beer and Cheese. Yes.

Anacapa Beers, C’est Cheese, El Caballo Mexican, and SB County Vintner’s winemaker dinners.

Remember that beer and cheese tasting I’m obsessed with? It’s back. Eric Rose, of S.B. Brewing Co. and Anacapa Brewing Co., lends his hoppy know-how to Michael and Kathryn Graham’s (yes, they finally got married!) cheese savvy for a tasting of Belgian beers and cheeses. Reserve your space now, before I call 45 of my closest friends. Mon.-Tue., Apr. 24-25, 6:30-8 p.m.; 965-0318, cestcheese.com.

Last month we bade adiós to an old favorite and hola to a new Mexican restaurant. After (I’m told) four decades of serving dedicated diners arguably the most delicioso tacos in town, La Tolteca closed its Haley St. doors. But lest we fall behind our quota of Mexican eateries, El Caballo Mexican Restaurant has opened up in the former Golden China space. El Caballo, 3130 State St., 687-5916.

The S.B. County Vintners’ Festival winemaker dinners, open houses, and other events start tomorrow, but don’t miss Saturday’s tasting: more than 70 wineries, food, live music, and general bacchanalia. Call 688-0881 or visit sbcountywines.com.
