Pirate Music

On August 22, actor Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski will proudly unveil their Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs, and Chanteys, a project that the pair imagined while toiling away on the latest Pirates of the Caribbean flick. Featuring the blimey likes of Bono, Sting, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson, and, uh, the artist Ralph Steadman, the two-disc, 43-song collection contains both forgotten and famous songs from the sea. Watch out for it next week, or pick it up here.
