Good Sport Leaving the N-P

News-Press sportswriter Mike Traphagen has given notice and will join the Hispanic Business magazine, according to word on the street.. There Mike will join two others who’ve split the paper, Michael Todd and Hildy Medina.

Three more News-Pressers are also poised to say adios to the newsroom, according to reports. They’ve already found jobs and will be gone in a few days. This will bring the meltdown to nearly 20 editors, designers, and reporters. In a pleasant turn of events, current staffers are finding flowers delivered to their desks from anonymous senders. Typical message: “The community supports you.”

It cheers us up,” one staffer said.

The Hispanic Business publication circulates nationally, 10 months a year, from a Goleta office, and has been publishing for 27 years.
