THROATY GIRL SONGWRITER COMES TO TOWN: Some of
the best live albums out there don’t take place in a big
ampitheatre or arena, but in tiny venues, where you can hear just
about every audience member clapping or spilling their drinks in
the background. shaber.jpg Sam Shaber’s In My Bones (Live
in Chicago)
is such an album. Shaber sounds
like a grown-up, female version of Jason Mraz,
with less of the verbal showiness of Mraz and her own brand of
throaty girl-ballads. If the CD is any indication, it’ll be a great
show at SOhO, Tuesday, October 24. —Sarah Hammill
