311 Ticket Winners Plus Raffle Video

Thanks to the more than 60 loyal readers of The Santa Barbara Independent for entering the first ever ticket giveaway on Independent.com. The “311 at the Santa Barbara Bowl” raffle went down yesterday at Fiesta Laundromat on De la Vina at Carrillo, and the winners emerged as Tyron Smith and John Pierpont. See their photos in next week’s Independent. Also, for those who didn’t win, make sure to get your tickets for this Saturday’s 311 show by clicking here.

Meanwhile, watch the Indy get all multimedia in this video, as editor Matt Kettmann picks the winners from a hot, dangerous dryer. Be patient as it loads and don’t mind the blurriness—it’s our first stab at filmmaking, which we did on a Canon digital camera usually meant for still photos. Plus, the clip, which we miraculously did in one take, features a true “money shot”! And big props to our man behind the camera, the formidable, budding cinematographer Paul Wellman.

Watch out for more ticket giveaways and other free stuff at Independent.com.
