Devilish dogs, crazed cats, pig-headed mules, and even that lawless lizard can start over this weekend, as Cardinal Roger Mahoney will offer a Blessing of the Animals at historic Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles this Holy this Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m. All four-footed and finned friends-and their two-legged owners-are welcome to attend the blessing, which dates from at least the mid-second century and is considered one of the oldest Christian celebrations. Later that night, Mahoney will celebrate the Easter Vigil Mass at 8, in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, located at 55 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles.
