Santa Barbara County firefighters were on hand to assist USFS Los Padres Ranger Unit on Tuesday, April 10 when a vegetation fire broke out north of Buellton. The fire was contained to approximately 1/2 an acre just before 10 a.m. A County fire helicopter was brought in to help aid ground units in combating the blaze. The cause of the fire was said to be two permitted burn piles which raged out of the control of the ranch hand attending to them. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
