As occurs with freakish regularity since last July, just when I think the Santa Barbara News-Press management is keeping their metaphorical head down and working on improving their “newspaper,” a new gaffe or belligerence emerges.

Take it away Travis J. Armstrong:

Opinion: Lawyers Alliance of Personal Gripes??

Lately I’ve been thinking back to one afternoon last July when a few hundred people gathered in De la Guerra Plaza to shout out, “Armstrong resign.” I got off lucky, I guess, because these rabid folks ditched their plans to wear T-shirts that either directed the f-word at me or made fun of my DUI. (But you can still get them on the Internet, I’m told.) How nice and civil people can be in Santa Barbara. More»

I’ll just give it to our city’s top Editorialist — he really puts the “Bull” in Bully Pulpit.

It’s busy around here, so feel free to flesh out the analysis for me.

The following comments came from our old website:

Travis, Travis..

in his never-ending quest to find the cabal trying to bring down the NewsPress, Travis sinks to the bottom of his little sludge pit. He says of a lawyer from the Environmental Defense Center “I was on the 101 awhile back, and someone who appeared to be Ms. Krop whizzed by us. she had a “BOYCOTT THE NEWSPRESS” sticker on the back of her car. This suggests that Ms. Krop believes in free speech for some people, but not for the NewsPress management”…blah blah blah

From Travis’ rant,

“There’s C. Michael Cooney. Among other things, he’s a member of the Montecito Planning Commission, a government body the newspaper has faulted for pettiness and bad decision-making.”

Travis doesn’t get his facts wrong, so Mike has been demoted. He used to be Salud Carbajal’s appointee as county planning commissioner.

“someone who APPEARED to be Ms. Krop whizzed by”

Did Travis have his glasses on? Was it after midnight? Maybe it wasn’t Linda Krop … maybe it was Marty Keagan again.

To BE, or not to be –

The real question seems to involve Travis’ need for a Handi-wipe dispenser in his friend’s car.

Don’t know what you mean by improving the newspaper, since Dr. L has returned and they still are into legal delay tactics rather than trying to reach an accord with their employees.

Gotta wonder what got into Travis’ head that got him to thinking about last July. . . Could it be. . . submitting new lies to a court in Orange County? It is quite comforting when Trav inventories the “who hates me and my beloved bosses today” scene, that he has been legally declared a liar and manufacturer of fake information. But it remains a mystery how he goes from that paranoid enemies list to ascribing to them a desire to “silence” the newspaper. As always, what “silence” is to Travis is merely the ability to speak in a different voice from a different perspective.

While commenting and/or blasting away at this latest Travis Armstrong editorial would be fun, few people any more can find it. Foraging for the stained and shredded print edition at Starbucks recycling bin would be easier than through the Newspress web site.

The Independent seems terrified of quoting too much of anything from the Newspress, and even is deleting too much of a quote in a comment posted here.

While the Independent includes it, the link to the Newspress web site only works apparently for subscribers there, and their archives show even less without a big fee.

10 minutes later…

Alas, I see atop the Newspress web site is a link called “Commentaries” which includes a few editorials about how everyone is bad and out to get them, take them down, or is full of shit, etc.

However, the editorial that is the subject here is not there. Is this not yet some of Armstrong’s best writing and most damning allegations? Why not place this editorial in question there too, so everyone can enjoy it and read about how bad everyone really is?

This is what happens when you give the Village Idiot a forum.

This guys reminds me of the moron who loved to be hit in the stomach with a stick. Because when it stopped, it felt so good.

I’ve never had the stomach-churning displeasure of meeting Travisty face to face (and that’s probably a very good thing). But on those rare occasions when I need some amusement and bother to read his sad and pathetic missives, I can’t help but think of that clueless and socially inept kid in the sixth grade that everyone beat up, just because he was so freakin’ annoying. His butt got kicked senseless nearly every day by kids bigger, smaller, smarter, and stupider than he was, just because he didn’t know when to shut the hell up.

To that end, I’m amazed someone hasn’t yet stomped T.J. into a greasy, noxious puddle.
