It was such a boost to read Bud Bottom's letter [Letters, Nov. 29] covering so well the bottom line to most of the ills with which humans are faced today—overpopulation. He pointed out that it seems to be a "taboo" subject which our presidential candidates and other governmental representatives avoid. They dance endlessly around the bandaids for whatever ills are the current knee-jerk concern, but avoid offering solutions to slow population growth—like tax benefits for couples with one or no children, as Mr. Bottoms suggested. All of us who understand this, keep hammering away to lift the taboo. —Susanne Barrymore
