MarBorg Industries Truck Hits Two on Tuesday; Man Dead, Woman in Hospital

A MarBorg Industries garbage truck struck two people at the intersection of Yanonali Street and Calle Cesar Chavez, killing one man and injuring a woman this morning, according to authorities.

Santa Barbara police spokesperson Lt. Paul McCaffrey said that at 6:30 a.m. the truck was traveling northbound on Calle Cesar Chavez and, while making a left turn onto Yanonali, hit the two pedestrians. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman, who was thought to be in her 40s, was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The driver stopped at the scene, McCaffrey said, and is cooperating with police.
