Missing Puppies Returned

Abbie and Cookie — the two 11-week-old pit bull mixes that were stolen from local no-kill animal shelter DAWG on Wednesday — were returned on Thursday afternoon. A Ventura resident contacted DAWG and admitted that he had taken the dogs, believing that he was free to take them because the dogs are not sold from the shelter, just adopted. Both Abbie and Cookie were reported as being in good health upon their return to the shelter. No charges are being pressed. The Ventura man is allegedly working to formally adopt the dogs.
