Promotes “Insider’s Look” of Santa Barbara

Do you have a favorite spot in Santa Barbara that you think everyone should know about? Thanks to a new contest, SB Secrets, now you have your chance to share your little slice of serenity and maybe win prizes along the way.

The contest, put on by the Santa Barbara Conference & Visitors Bureau and Film Commission, asks Santa Barbara residents to post either a picture or video of their “secret” followed by a brief description on

makesbyourown.com. Submissions range from local beaches to restaurants, hikes and more. Any place in Santa Barbara that holds something special no matter how grand or minute.

The contest ends June 21. There are three categories in which entrants can win: Best Photo, Best Video and People’s Choice. Winners receive “Backyard Vacation” packages that include a two-night stay at the Harbor View Inn, the Eagle Inn or the Cheshire Cat Inn. Winners will also receive gift certificates for area restaurants and partake in activities such as wine tasting, sailing, sunset cruises and surf lessons. Winners will be notified on June 25.

The “Backyard Vacation” packages are meant to show locals Santa Barbara through the eyes of a tourist.

But the contest won’t work without you, so go online and start spilling you SB secret today.
