Teaching assistants, tutors, and readers at UCSB staged a “grade-in” on 6/12. About 100 participants turned out in support. According to Susie Keller, a teaching assistant in the English department, the working conditions of TAs and other staff directly relate to students’ learning conditions. “When we are overworked, students don’t get the individual attention they need to learn.” TAs, tutors, and readers are represented by the United Auto Workers’ Union Local 2865.
