Five Year Old Causes Goleta Apartment Fire


Twenty-seven firefighters responded to a fire that devastated an apartment at 449 Linfield Place in Goleta at around 12:35 p.m. on 6/14, displacing 19 residents for the night. Responding firefighters were able to douse the blaze quickly, containing the fire to one apartment. Further investigation by Santa Barbara County fire officials found the cause of the fire to be a 5-year-old playing with matches in one of the complex’s storage closets.
